Is it possible to teach yourself pole as a complete beginner? How could you do this?
Absolutely! I know, because I did it myself. I have never had any instruction. I mean I probably would be better with some direction, but it is possible to teach yourself. You just have to have your own poles and YouTube tutorials. Also, you must be a lot safer since you to not have someone to spot you!
I've been a pole dancer for quite some time now, and I want to start posting routine videos on YT, but I'm not model slim like all the pole dancers I see. My figure is more pear shaped and my thighs are bigger than average. Do you still think I could post routines, or should someone like me stay away from that? Would I be setting myself up for hate? Hate doesn't bother me any more, but I'm insecure about my body enough--I don't want to be targeted by that, despite my muscle and experience.
In my opinion, I think you should go for it! Be proud of your progress and accomplishments!! For the most part, I have found that most people watching on YT are other pole dancers providing encouragement and advice. There will always be hateful people leaving stupid comments, but that even happens to the stick skinny people as well! And remember the people being jerks probably couldn’t do half the moves you are doing :)
Hello :) I want to get into pole but I'm not in great shape so I want to increase my fitness/strength/flexibility a little before I start. Any advice?
leg and back stretches! there are a ton of youtube videos for stretching. this will help with your flexibility greatly. lifting weights can help with your strength, but i built up my strength just by doing basic pole moves at first!
hi i just found you blog and i find pole dancing as a kind of sports really fastsinating and i think about trying it bc i love dancing and gymnastics, but thats not possible if i am under 18 right ? :(
some studios allow you to go to classes if you are 16 with parent’s consent, but most want you to be 18. call around to your local pole studios :)
Hey! I just stumbled across your blog. I used to do gymnastics/cheerleading and now that I'm in the Navy pole dancing is the closest thing I can find back to my roots. I start my first class next Saturday! I just wanted to say your blog was quite an inspiration for me. Have a great day!
Thanks so much, love reading messages like these!! Since you already have some experience with gymnastics, that will really help out with pole! You are probably super flexy! Anyways, good luck and I hope you love your class next Friday! :D
I have just gotten word that I will be receiving my first pole by the end of this month. I am ridiculously excited and I want to teach myself how to use it. What resources would you recommend to a beginner? Thanks!! :)
hi! sorry it took me so long to respond! that’s great you are getting a pole and want to learn! the best resources i know are dirdy birdy and emotioncatcher on youtube. poledancedictionary.com is awesome as well!
